The results of the Superintendent Search Survey and an overview of the Community Engagement Meetings held by the AASB (Alabama Association of School Boards) were presented to The Huntsville City Schools Board of Education during a Special Called Meeting on Thursday, October 27th.

Over 2100 surveys were submitted – about three times what the Board of Education was told to expect during the presentations given by the three search firms vying to conduct the national search for Huntsville’s next superintendent. There were seven Community Engagement Meetings with 123 stakeholders attending – up from 44 attendees the last time the AASB conducted engagement meetings.

Notable is the consistency in survey responses across all stakeholder groups  – parents, business and community leaders, and Huntsville City School teachers, staff and administration.

In early November the Alabama Association of School Boards will advertise the search nationally and begin the process of recruiting candidates and screening applications. The AASB will use board interviews and the community assessments to assist with the candidate screening to select five finalists to recommend to the Huntsville Board of Education for the next steps in the selection process.
